FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Are we insured?

Not through Adreventura. Though Adreventura offers a travel insurance over it’s insurance partner: WorldNomads.com, a world leader in travel insurances!  The WorldNomads.com Travel Insurance is designed for independent and adventurous travellers from any country, with coverage for overseas medical expenses, cancellation, baggage and other expenses.  Never travel without a travel insurance!  It’s cheap, simple, flexible & most of all you are on the safe side! Participants are not insured by Adreventura and are responsible for arranging their own insurance.  Participants must be in good health and have accident insurance that includes cover for emergency rescue costs.  Cancellation insurance is also advisable.  Even though activities are executed using competent employees and safe methods, accidents are never impossible.  Adreventura, its employees or its partners cannot be held liable.  Participants join the tours at their own risk.  Adreventura advices participants to have an insurance that provides cover for the following:

  • Any outdoor sports, classified under extreme or dangerous sports, it should include canyoning.
  • Medical expenses for treatment required as a result of injuries sustained by them while participating in outdoor activities.
  • Their own personal liability for the death or injury caused to another people as a result of their negligence.
Can we bring our camera?

Yes, of course. Many participants regret they didn’t document their tour on photo or video. On water activities, do make sure it is waterproof and can be attached!  Not attaching your camera or Gopro may result in loosing it, where it will be very hard to find it back! A floater might be a possible solution so it doesn’t get lost. Adreventura rents out waterproof photo and video cameras and sells floaters.  Check out our shop. Adreventura can’t be held responsible for any valuables taken along or any losses on the tour.

Is alcohol allowed before an activity?

No! Alcohol slows down the ability to react quickly and distract the concentration and might give vascular complications because of the colder water. Full attention is needed to participate in any of our activities. Participants with any indication of alcohol consumption will be turned down immediately from participation.

Jumping in the water hurts my ears!

Yes, we understand your situation. This is a phenomena happening to some people, though there is not much to do about it. The pressure of the water after entering is much higher then air, therefor it creates a fast and sometimes strong pressure difference on the ears. Adreventura has used and tested earplug’s, which are especially designed for watersporters and swimmers. These earplug’s work very well as the pressure on the ears is slower and softer and experience tells us that no pain is felt with entering the water. Adreventura sells and recommends Earplugs to everyone.  Check out our shop.

Do we get clean equipment?

Yes. After every activity the participants themselves wash the equipment, so everyone is sure the equipment, for example the wetsuits are clean.  All other group equipment is washed by Adreventura to ensure a clean start for the next day.  Adreventura uses biodegradable products that kills bacteria’s.  Adreventura tries to make sure to hand out dry equipment, though it is possible that equipment is moist from the tour before, which is obviously not an indication that the equipment is dirty!

Do we have to book in advance?

Yes. Adreventura sometimes has complex logistics, therefor it is mandatory to book in advance. Bookings will be closed at the latest 12hrs before tours begin, to ensure the quality and the safety of the tours. This gives Adreventura enough time to check up on actual weather and water conditions. Last-minute bookings will only be accepted if Adreventura can guarantee the safety and has enough time to organise the logistics.

Do we need to be able to swim for canyoning or canoeing?

Yes. Participants are required to have basic swimming abilities, but they certainly don’t need to be competition swimmers. Without swimming abilities a canyon or a river is definitely the wrong place to be!

As a prerequisite, only persons with the following measurements can be accepted, for the limited reasons of equipment: – Weight: 30 – 115 kg – Height: 135 – 200 cm People who are under or above these measurements, should contact us, unless they can bring their own equipment.

What is canyoning?

Canyoning # Canoeing # Rafting “Canyoning” is in other terminology: Canyoneering (USA, AU), Kloofing (SA), Barranquismo (ES), Torrentismo (IT). It is traveling in canyons using a variety of techniques that may include other outdoor activities such as walking, scrambling, climbing, jumping, abseiling (rapelling) and swimming. It is frequently done in remote, rugged settings and often requires navigational, route-finding and other wilderness traveling skills. Canyons that are ideal for canyoning are often cut into the bedrock stone, forming narrow gorges with numerous drops, beautifully sculpted walls, and sometimes spectacular waterfalls. Most canyons are cut into limestone, sandstone, granite or basalt, though other rock types are found. The Ticino canyons are mostly formed into granite rock. While canyoneers have used and adapted equipment for years, more and more specialised gear is invented and manufactured as canyoning popularity increases.

What is the minimum and maximum amount of participants for an activity to go ahead?

Canyoning activities will go ahead with a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 8 participants (in some exceptions 10) per guide. Canoeing and abseiling activities will go ahead with a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 12 participants per guide. Outdoor events, team building activities and most courses organised will go ahead with a minimum of 4 participants, with the maximum defined by the particular activity. Furthermore there can be as many participants as there is equipment and guides available. Groups of 14+ people & private groups are available on request. If an individual booker wants to participate he/she will be placed on a planned tour to reach the minimum amount of participants.

What is the minimum age to participate in your activities?

As a standard these are the following differences:

  • Family level tours: from 8yrs old
  • Basic level tours: from 12yrs old
  • Advanced level tours: from 14yrs old
  • Experienced level tours: from 16yrs old
  • Expert level tours and all other tours: from 18yrs old

Important note: Activities will always be adapted to the lowest level of the participant’s party. All the ability levels are described in a chart.
